Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves -Matthew 7:15
Unfortunately, many Christians have fallen victim to the “anything Jesus” culture; that any person or church proclaiming the name of Jesus is automatically righteous. This has led to some of the world’s largest churches being those that proclaim false gospels, namely the prosperity gospel. The prosperity gospel teaches that belief in God is accompanied by financial and physical fortune and that faith is in direct correlation with worldly blessing. These teachings can sometimes be blatant and sometimes be veiled, but they are always an anti-Christian gospel. The Bible calls Christians to be patient, humble, longsuffering servants who will obtain their ultimate reward in Christ not in this life but in the eternal life to come. To borrow from the mecca of prosperity teachers, Joel Osteen’s book, if “Your Best Life (is) Now” ….. then you are in trouble friend.

The word tangent has two meanings: 1)A line, curve, or surface meeting but not intersecting another and 2)Diverging from an original purpose or course... In Episode 8, we exercise both.
We start off this jam packed episode with a look back at our first 7 episodes and a couple of tangents about issues we’ve encountered since the release of Ep. 7: “Shallow Oceans.” But the true subject of this week’s show is where the tangent of the Gospel of Christ and the issue of abortion meet. More specifically; What should the church’s response be to the issue of abortion? We take a look at some ways we believe the church as a whole could improve in responding to the issue of abortion and some practical solutions of how we further the Glory of God through working to end this heinous sin. If we are to be part of the solution, we must admit that each of us, individually and collectively, are falling short. We hope as our brothers and sisters in Christ that you all find encouragement in this week’s episode. As always, please feel free to send your feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for listening!!
If you're a fan of contemporary Christian music you've heard it: the hit song "Oceans" by Hillsong. In the past year it has dominated Christian radio as well as congregational worship sets. It was so popular that it was even sung on the show "The Voice." This week we dig into the lyrical content of this song to unpack its theological validity. Is this song representative of true, biblical, Christ exalting worship? Or does it leave much to be desired? Join us this week as we look at what makes a praise song biblically sound and what many worship tunes may be lacking. As always, we love your feedback. Contact us on Facebook or at email@example.com. Thanks for listening!!!
This week we continue with our overview of the video of a young girl speaking at a hyper charismatic church. In Part 2 we look at the effect of allowing only pure emotion to drive our worship and of having complete disregard for order in congregational services. We also dive into 1 Corinthians 12 and the teachings Paul employs to correct the abuse of tongues happening in Corinth and how it applies to common abuses of the gifting in the modern day church. Above all, we seek to apply all of this to the ultimate message of salvation through Christ and seeing him alone be glorified in our worship. Thanks for listening!!
